About Us

Simpson Blacks Civil (SB Civil) was formed after a partnership was forged between Simpson Earthmoving and Blacks Hire.
The new business was initiated to take advantage of the different skill sets that the two owners, Josh Simpson and Alistair McCourty, could bring to the table. Both having worked in the civil and pipeline industries in New Zealand and abroad.
Since its inception, SB Civil has quickly become a preferred contractor
for some of Auckland’s leading construction companies and developers.
A contributing factor to this is the core values the company has in
customer service, high quality workmanship and the ability to react
positively to problem solving when the need arises.
With an extensive fleet of GPS machine controlled equipment and
modern heavy transport vehicles, matched with our highly skilled work
force, SB Civil have the capabilities to complete complex and large
scale projects efficiently, on time and on budget.

ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT

SB Civil is proud to be an environmentally conscious company.
Prior to the commencement of all projects, we undertake an environmental assessment
to determine if a dedicated plan is required in order for our works to comply with
environmental regulations. Environmental issues typically include, but are not limited to:
• Minimising stripping and erosion
• Recycling and salvaging construction material
• Salvaging and reusing topsoil
• Minimising waste and reworking activities
• Appropriately storing hazardous materials
• Ensuring clean and tidy work sites.
And while these are the foundations of all our daily activities, throughout all projects they
are consistently monitored and modified to incorporate any additional environmental.

HEALTH & SAFETY

We are committed to providing a working environment that is safe for our employees, our subcontractors, visitors and the general public. We adopt a “mission zero” philosophy regarding safety, whereby there is no tolerance to any at-risk or unsafe practices in the workplace or on-site. We will not permit any of our staff or subcontractors to put themselves or others at risk, by carrying out a task that may result in or cause an injury. Nor are they required to work in an environment that they consider to be unsafe or at risk. SB Civil work in accordance with company procedures and instructions, which includes regular toolbox meetings , to ensure all employees are provided with the opportunity to voice any opinions regarding safety in our construction activities.

ENSURING SUCCESSFUL PROJECTS

We perform assessment, monitoring, and completion processes, which are over-seen by the Project manager for that site. Each site has an internal program to ensure that the project is delivered on time and on budget. SB Civil will maintain flexibility with the clients program at all times.

COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT

Our team has the experience and expertise to complete a wide range of civil works for commercial developments from beginning to end, whether it is a small warehouse addition or a large scale project.
